Being outside in nature
is a Canadian birthright.

At the age of 8 it’s tradition to put each Canadian child alone, deep, deep in the wilderness, armed only with a clam shell. The child must survive and make his way home, or he is banished from the country. Now is that true? Of course not, but our love of nature is that real. While we aren’t forced to survive alone in the wilds of the great white north, we were raised in British Columbia surrounded by nature.

We’d hang out in the woods a lot when we were kids. It’s led to a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors. Nothing resets the mind and body like a nice walk in the woods. And Vancouver is a very outdoorsy place. People in our hometown play lots of sports. We… not so much.

But back when weed wasn’t as accepted (and we lived with our parents) we found ourselves smoking outside a LOT. Though we did so because we had no choice, as our mom’s would punish us if they caught us smoking inside, it taught us a great lesson: weed and the wilderness go together perfectly.

Because of this we’ve also developed some tricks for outdoor smoking. We both snowboarded as kids and can light a joint in a literal snowstorm. You pull your shirt away from your chest and light the joint INSIDE your shirt. We DO NOT suggest anyone try this. Failure results in your shirt bursting into flames. It hasn’t happened to us yet, or anyone we know, but again, DO NOT try this. You could be that person. The one who bursts into flames.

For outdoors adventure, the Carry Case is an obvious Houseplant favorite of ours.

We’re always on the move, especially when we make movies. We can find ourselves in very random places like the middle of a forest or on top of a mountain. The carry case has everything we need when we’re on the move. It holds your weed, your supplies, and comes with a lighter and grinder. And, as the name implies, is very carryable.

Equally awesome for outdoors adventures is the Stack Lantern.

It’s an easily rechargeable and extremely portable lantern that has three light levels (and the light is warm and pleasant!) as well as an ashtray, secret storage space, and (dare we say) a sexy leather carrying strap. We took it on a camping trip recently and (quite frankly) the glory of nature was the second best part of that trip. The functionality and aesthetics of the Stack Lantern were the real champion. Of all our Houseplant products, the Stack Lantern gets used more than most because it’s also the perfect addition to anyone's backyard. It lights the evening up while you light up.
