Hi, it’s Seth and, you won't believe this, I’ve also got Evan here!

Today we’re going to talk about two things that go together even better than us: MUSIC and WEED!

And we’ll answer the question, HOW DO WE CHOOSE WHAT MUSIC TO LISTEN TO WHEN SMOKING? Well, that depends on what we’re doing, eh? We’re industrious fellas that are haunted by our own imaginations if we don’t purge them of our twisted thoughts, which is part of the reason we spend a lot of our time making films and television shows. We wear numerous hats, but not all of those hats go well with music.

If we’re directing, we tend to be roughly 100000000% focused on the film, which makes listening to music kind of pointless. If we’re producing, we're in a lot of "meetings" and talking to a lot of "people," neither of which is conducive to turning on a playlist. But when we are writing, we LOVE to listen to music and smoke.

We have a record player behind our shared desk (that’s right! Two men! One desk!) and we play vinyl records as we work (if you’re born after the year 1988, you should learn about this fascinating piece of ancient technology).

We love listening to Wu-Tang, but it doesn’t exactly give our minds room to breathe. Whereas some mellow Johnny Cash, or jazz from Miles Davis or John Coltrane gives us plenty of mental breathing room.

We have the 2001 vinyl and thought that would be cool to listen to while working but it turned out to be terrifying and really shut us down creatively. We also enjoy a good deal of blues like Son House. There’s some great Funkadelic albums that are mostly instrumental. Classical music is generally pretty conducive to writing. When we’re taking a break from writing we tend to put on soul records. But it’s TOO good and pulls on our heartstrings in ways that distract us from our writing at times.

Then there’s the other parts of life. For working out, hip hop or rock keeps us kicking ass and taking names as we push the envelope and bulk up on the way to one day being super jacked. You just wait. We’re gonna pull a Dax Shepard and then start a new podcast with Dax Shepard called “We Got Buff Like Dax Shepard.”

We share cool songs with each other constantly. Anytime we find a cool song we share it, because any of them could end up in a movie! In high school, we would constantly share mixtapes, so no better way to end this letter than with a snapshot of one of our grade 9 classics. This was one of three mixed cassettes we made together. At the time this was, in our opinion, the best songs on Earth. We also share cool songs with each other constantly. Anytime we find a cool song we share it, because any of them could end up in a movie!
